Mole Man, nemesis of the Fantastic Four. Cut one leg for a bend,
reset the head mounted on a short neck so the cape could fit
snug. I coated the body with toilet paper and white glue. I
lengthened the shirt and daubed it many shades of green for a mottled
effect. The cape is screwed onto his shoulders. I ran
embroidery thread around his arms to hold the cape on. The stick
came from the woods. The face is deliberately pale - he lives
underground - and the glasses are Testor's Steel.

The
Spirit meets his match in Ellen Dolan, who's always out to marry
him. The Spirit is often tied up by femmes fatale, so I thought
it fitting Ellen take a turn. The Spirit is a Mask body and some
guy's head. Ellen was a Shrek Princess Fiona pen with new
legs. The base is from some Animated Superman. The lamp
post is from Aurora's Man from U.N.C.L.E. model. The pelican came
from a educational toy store.

Infectious
Lass of the 31st Century Legion of Substitute Heroes. The only
superheroine to proudly wear ropes of snot as a badge. From a fast food
Batgirl. Her antennas are florist wire. The snot is clear
plastic from a blister pack warped in hot water. She wears
Captain Fear's pirate belt from her adventure with Team 13 in Tales of the Unexpected. The pirates, handy for customizing, are sold at Big Lots.

Early
Iron Man from the KB Toys Avengers set. Just a repose, freeze,
and fill. I shortened the helmet and adjusted Tony Stark's head
so his eyes show through the eyeslits. I replaced the bending
antenna with a steel rod and added a popup missile launcher on his
forearm. He's painted with Testor's Gold and brushed with
Testor's Brass. The original had a few dents I filled with
Testor's Steel, as if the gold skin had been chipped off. The
chest light is silver as in the movie.

Captain
Canuck, Defender of the North. From a cartoony X-Men
Cyclops. In the George Freeman style with the polar boots and
gloves.

Friar Tuck, one of Robin Hood's Merry Men. Heavily modded from The Prince of Thieves
Tuck figure, which was freakishly dwarfish. I padded the face and
elongated the body. The cassock and capuchin are two different
types of cloth stiffened with glue and paint. I carved the mug of
beer and cross. The mace is from the spares box. Clerics
couldn't carry swords, which draw blood, but could carry maces to bash
hell out of people. Bishop Odo carried one at the Battle of
Hastings.

"Encounter
on Ranagar, 1962." Hawkman and Adam Strange teamed up early on,
but eventually Rann and Thanagar went to war. I plan to add
Alanna and Hawkgirl to the mix, swooping and shooting at each
other. The base is from the Aurora Tarzan model where he's killed
a lion. I made the grass semi-desert after Alan Moore's retrofit.

Hawkman is a Super Powers figure cut and reposed
and beefed up. I retrofitted him to the earliest Kubert depiction.
His wings are from a Masters of the Universe eagle. The arm and chest
hair is just mechanical pencil. He swings his original mace fitted onto a chain.

My
first figure. He's adapted from some Starting Lineup bastkebal
player. The ray gun is from the spares box. He flies on
plastic coated wires striped with glue and cotton ball wadding.
The face and boots need revisiting.

Scud
the Disposable Assassin, a creation of Rob Schrab. Terrific
independent comic that actually completed with 24 issues. Check
out the website. Scud is made out of Evergreen tubes and rods. The guns were The Shadow's.
