Joseph Fisher
Colonial American Mysteries

Joseph Fisher portrait by Laurie Harden.

Joseph Fisher is an amateur detective in the early 1700s. Born white, raised by Indians, trained by Jesuits, educated at Harvard, Joseph speaks eight languages and hails from three cultures, yet belongs to none. He's also doomed at age 20 by consumption (tuberculosis). Homeless, unhealthy, and lonely, Joseph wanders New England and Canada poking into mysteries. And like his namesake and totem, the fisher cat, once Joseph sinks his teeth, he never quits.
